Privacy Policy for Piano Tuner AI

Effective date: 2026-07-13

Piano tuning only - local microphone analysis - optional Firebase sync

This policy explains how Piano Tuner AI handles information when you use the Android app and its optional cloud-sync and Bluetooth motor-assist features.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may access or process:

2. How We Use Information

We use information to provide live piano tuning, multi-string tracking, inharmonicity measurement, optional motor-assist feedback, piano profile storage, Google authentication, and optional cross-device cloud synchronization.

On Android 11 and earlier, Android may require location permission for Bluetooth discovery. We request that permission only where Android requires it for Bluetooth scanning. The app does not use Bluetooth or location permission to determine, store, or share your physical location.

3. Sharing with Third Parties

We may process information through the following providers only as needed to operate the app:

We do not sell personal information. The app does not include advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs, and it does not upload microphone audio.

4. Local Storage and Cloud Storage

Tuning documents and the signed-in session are stored in the app's private Android storage. When Firebase cloud sync is configured and you sign in, the app sends the account profile and tuning documents described above to Cloud Firestore. Cloud documents are organized under your Firebase user ID and the app's Firestore security rules restrict access to that user.

Firebase may process service data on Google infrastructure. See Firebase Privacy and Security for Google's service information.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Local tuning documents remain on your device until you delete them in the app, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. The local auto-connect Bluetooth address remains until you disable auto-connect or clear app storage.

Cloud-synced tuning documents remain in Cloud Firestore until you delete the corresponding profile in the app or request deletion. Signing out removes the locally stored signed-in session but does not itself delete cloud data. Firebase Authentication account information remains associated with your Google sign-in until it is deleted through a verified deletion request.

You may delete individual tuning profiles in the app. To request deletion of all cloud data associated with Piano Tuner AI, contact us through the public support page: https://github.com/balazslapis/tunerai-privacy/issues. Do not post account details or other personal information in a public issue; request a private contact response instead.

6. Security

We use Android's app sandbox for local data. Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore use Google's authenticated service connections, and Firestore access is restricted by user-ID-based security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Choices

8. Children

Piano Tuner AI is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International Processing

Your information may be processed in countries where Google and other service providers operate. By using the app, you understand that information may be transferred and processed outside your country of residence.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app's data practices change. When we make changes, we will update the effective date and publish the latest version on this page.
